PigeonPolly - Project: Mr.Chew

Mister Chew was born thanks to a story from a friend in Australia. Snails lived in her mailbox and would literally have letters and bills for breakfast. I loved this image of a tiny, calm mail-destroyer so much that I decided to give him a name and a look. Now, he continues to munch on paper throughout my illustrations.

Sometimes, Mister Chew doesn’t just destroy mail, he enjoys a sophisticated "literary" dinner. What could be better than a classic Agatha Christie book, a cup of coffee and the cozy glow of fairy lights?

In this illustration, he’s a true intellectual. With his glasses perched on his eyestalks, it's clear he scrutinized every clue in the mystery before finally deciding to eat it.

Who says Mister Chew only sticks to paper? This time, he’s found something a bit more... "crunchy." Whether he mistook this traffic cone for a giant orange snack or simply decided to shut down the road for a private lunch, one thing is clear: he’s not moving anytime soon.

With that calm look behind his glasses, he seems to be saying: "I'm not causing a traffic jam; I'm just having a break."

“I was just doing my job,” that’s exactly how Mister Chew would comment on this chaos. In this illustration, I’ve combined my character’s signature calmness with the spirit of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. While a massive “KA-BOOM!” erupts in the background (most likely Adrian Pimento’s doing), Mister Chew, sporting his aviators, calmly enjoys a classic detective’s breakfast: a pink frosted donut and a cup of coffee.

He’s the only one who can hold a “TOP SECRET” folder and make it look like he’s just browsing a brunch menu. Ignoring explosions and police tape? Yeah, that’s his superpower.

Think Mister Chew is just lounging in a cozy chair in the middle of a garden? Look closer. There are no ordinary violets in his collection. Instead, he grows everything that bites, pricks, and snaps: from treacherous Venus flytraps to cacti and mandrakes.
